Imitation: The Greatest Form of Flattery
Sean Percival is an amazing man and artist in his own right, but to say that only scratches the surface of who he really is. Not only is he an Author, but he also has “many years experience of messing around on the Internet for fun and profit.” Currently, you can find him working feats of internet magic over at DocStoc.com. There is nothing that I can say about him that would do him justice, but there is one thing that I can say with certainty about him that is chief and foremost important to me, and that is the fact that he is my friend and he calls himself a fan of my work.
When I first showed him the metal cards I had made up by Etchstar (thanx Ben and Karina), he tells me he knew exactly what he wanted to do. He took a photograph that I took of him, and did his best to emulate what I had done with my cards. I don’t show the front of the cards here (maybe I’ll add them in as an addendum tomorrow), but I believe he surpassed my original design with a bit of his own personality. On the front of his, he actually includes some binary text which I can only assume is his name (or some other text) in binary code which is way cool. I’ll have to either ask him or look it up myself, but when I do, I’ll report back. You may think that I choose our cards as today’s picture post because I just wanted to prove that I did it first, but you would be wrong. I chose our cards as today’s picture post because I just can’t believe that someone as cool as Sean would honor me in this way. Thank you Sean. I believe you did me one better with your design and I love that you did! Oh, and by the way, Happy Birthday!
